Okay so this all escalated quickly. To be perfectly honest I was not sure what to expect when it came to all of your responses to what we were doing with this little zine. We've tried to be as professional as possible and my writers have done a fantastic job chasing down leads. We still continue to post "blog style" but that is the best way I can think of to track stats so that we can target articles towards our audience in the future. We got an overwhelming response to the Charles Benson article, for instance. Now, we aren't about to turn ourselves into a hip hop zine but it's been neat to see the following online that Benson & Company has.
One thing that we added this month was we have been able to provide almost all of our own photos thanks to our staff writer Mark (The North Sound) and, of course, Deanna of Contingent Colours Photography (Belle Plaine, Patrick Moon Bird, Katelyn Lehner, Johnny 2 Fingers). I chimed in and took some pics of Wade Fehr. And, as it turns out one of the more rewarding aspects of this month was us doing those shoots as we got to know, in a socially distanced way, the artists we were writing about, on a more personal level.
And let's not forget about our guest column from my good friend JJ Voss! It was cool to see JJ throw his hat into the ring with his fantastic piece about Shantaia. Great insight into a Sask artist's music as a result!
Anyways, as always, keep letting us know what you think! We want to here from you! Holler at us on our facebook page or email at thenorthsaskmusiczine@gmail.com
