A letter from the editor: August 2022

Hey all! I'm going to keep this short and sweet. Can you believe that summer, a time usually so wide open to possibilities, is almost over? We've had a lot packed into July. Shows, festivals and, of course, artists are still always releasing new material. We try to cover as much as we can. It's been a busy but rewarding summer for all of us at NSMZ so far.

Unfortunately along with so much joy comes tragedy and loss. We'd like to dedicate this issue to the memory of Elephant Seal drummer Joshua Peters who left us for that great gig in the sky on July 8th. Joshua was someone that I never met personally but, from all accounts that I have read, he was a good dude and an uber talented musician. Elephant Seal is a band that we have enthusiastically covered within the pages of our zine in the past so our heart goes out to them as well as all of Joshua's friends and family.

We also would like to dedicate this issue to Blues Bandoleros harmonica player Ben Richard who passed away on July 22nd. I saw Ben play last year at Jeep Fest and he definitely had a magnetic charisma about him. Very charming and his harmonica playing was a key element to the band's overall sound and vibe. We'd also like to offer our heartfelt condolences to Ben's family and all that knew him and loved him. Gone too soon.

As always, thanks to our readers for being supporters of all that we do. We are on the continuous hunt for new subscribers to our website, instagram and facebook pages. Feel free to throw down those likes and shares on all our content too. Chances are if you're reading this you believe in the same things we do. We're all on the same team. Help us out!
