Aquithrium Release Sophmore Single “Purgatory”

By Will Yannacoulias

Released December 1st, “Purgatory” is the new single from Saskatoon deathcore neophytes Aquithrium. Despite the band being less than a year old, “Purgatory” is their second release, following September’s slow, punishing debut “Catharsis”. Aquithrium shared that “Purgatory was written with the intent of moshing and headbanging; we wanted something that was faster and contained more groove.”

Founding  members Maison Bueckert (drums) and Keegan Lafonde (vocals & guitar) are joined on the song by newcomers Lyndonn Tylor Gillies on bass and Sean Nimchuk on rhythm guitar. “Lyndonn can play bass like no one we’ve ever met” Bueckert & Lafonde told NSMZ, “and Sean has been a perfect fit.” Aquithrium recorded “Purgatory” at Nick Cherney’s Alphacore Studios, and credit Cherney as being integral to their raw, powerful sound, telling NSMZ “without Nick’s professional help and knowledge, Aquithrium wouldn’t be where it is today.”

“Purgatory” is available on all streaming platforms. Aquithrium will play their debut show December 30th alongside Alien To The Ignorant, Swayze and Riversleem at the Cosmo Seniors Center. The show is all all-ages winter clothing drive for the Saskatoon Food Bank.
