Last night was a big night for Park Valley, Sk's Jake Vaadeland as he managed to take home four SCMA awards: songwriter of the year, emerging artist of the year, alternative country album of the year and fan's choice entertainer of the year. Vaadeland first started playing solo shows just over a year ago that blended traditional bluegrass with a more plugged in rockabilly style and has not looked back since. He's released two ep's, Retro Man and No More Pain In My Heart and one split single featuring recordings cut live at the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts. He also toured relentlessly with his band "Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys". We here at NSMZ are very proud of what Jake has accomplished and wish him continued success in the future!
In a brief statement on his facebook page, Vaadelnd said the following:
"We're at a loss for words to learn that we won 4 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards last night! The words that do come to mind are humbled, honoured, grateful, shocked and extremely happy!
Huge thanks to Joel, Stephen & Jaxon for all you do and for being the best tour mates a guy could ask for.
Thanks to my friends and family for all you do for us!
And to the music fans and music venues that make what we do possible, this is all because of you and we are so thankful for your support!
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners last night! It's an honour to be mentioned in the same circles as all of you!
The Sturgeon River Boys are just getting started, and we have so many exciting things to share with you all in the near future!"
