Understatement of the year, but since July 11th, we've been very very busy. In fact, with restrictions eased live shows and festivals are returning at such a rate that we literally can't keep up anymore. It's kind of a good problem to have but, at the same time, if you're a writer, we could use your help! We are a very small but fiercely committed staff when it comes to local music. We are here to help to foster and grow the little scenes that are literally everywhere in this province. We also all have regular jobs. hahaha! So, if you live in a town that has bands that need exposure and are interested in writing about it, let us know. We need you! It's strictly voluntary. We can only pay you in "street cred" but all of us here at NSMZ have found it good for the soul. Will we look at procuring some cash for our writers down the road as this zine gets more and more established? Possibly... But we've never been about the cash here.
That brings me to some sad news. Both Dara Schindelka and Mark Hodgman, two extremely talented writers that have been with us the last several months, have decided to move on. I wish both you guys the very best and the door is absolutely wide open for you to return whenever you like.
In the meantime, dear readers, please enjoy this issue. It's well rounded, diverse, and chock full of solid pieces by stand up individuals. Please share share share and share. We take no profits from this. We do it for the love of music. We do it to support our scenes. So I guess I should also say that if you have a show coming up that you'd like us to be at or a feature about an artist you know that you think we should write about, hit us up at thenorthsaskmusiczine@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Scott Roos
