Mark your calendars for a weekend of good vibes and great music as Doylefest celebrates its 10th anniversary from September 6th to 8th at the peaceful Eagle Creek Regional Park. What began as a birthday gathering for Eliza Doyle in 2014 has blossomed into a beloved grassroots festival that’s all about bringing people together for an unforgettable, laid-back experience.
Doylefest found its perfect home at Eagle Creek Regional Park several years ago, and it’s been the ideal spot ever since. With its fully-serviced campground, the park offers everything you need to relax and enjoy the weekend, from washrooms and showers to disc golf, mini-golf, and a 9-hole golf course. There’s also a children’s area, walking trails, and even space for your horses if you feel like riding in!
A Festival Rooted in Community and Connection
Doylefest isn’t your typical music festival; it’s a gathering where community and connection take center stage. Christopher James Vasseur, a long time volunteer who’s been part of the Doylefest family since 2018, remembers how he got started. “My guitar mentor David Freeman introduced Eliza and me, and I started volunteering with Doylefest in 2018. She was actually one of the first people I met here. It was still at her property then, and it’s amazing to see how it’s grown.”
What truly sets Doylefest apart is the genuine love for music and community that everyone brings to the table. “The festival itself is a musicians’ festival,” Christopher explains. “It’s kind of an end-of-summer gathering for a lot of area artists. And the programming is something special too, with cultural programming, reconciliation workshops, and so much more.”
For Eliza Doyle, seeing the festival reach its 10th year is a surreal experience. “It’s very unreal to think that we are celebrating 10 years of Doylefest this year. Who would’ve thought a birthday party would’ve evolved into something like this? It’s evolved to be a fundraiser for a non-profit that I could’ve never even imagined would be created. Life is a wild ride, and I’m so lucky to be supported in such an amazing community. Without it, none of this would be possible.”
Join the Experience: Volunteer and Be Part of the Magic
Doylefest wouldn’t be what it is without the help of its volunteers. Christopher, who’s organizing the volunteers this year, highlighted the variety of roles available. “There are all kinds of shifts available, from the kids’ area to the beer gardens to hospitality. We will take any and all volunteers! The best part is with two shifts or six hours, you get access to the whole festival AND camping. It’s such a loving, caring, and musical environment to be in; it doesn’t even feel like you’re working. Best vibe out of all the festivals, you really feel like you are part of something bigger than yourself. As Eliza says, music can change the world!”
Be Part of Something Special
With 34 different musical acts, children’s performances, face painting, tie-dyeing, old-fashioned family games, and late-night jamming, Doylefest offers a unique and memorable experience for everyone. Tickets are just $30 for the day or $50 for the full weekend, available at the gate or online. The festival runs from Friday 6 pm to Sunday at 3 pm.
This year, the Main Stage fun moves indoors starting at 10:30 pm on both Friday and Saturday nights to keep the music going while keeping everyone cozy. As anyone who’s been to Saskatchewan in September knows, the nights can get pretty chilly! The 19+ indoor Cabaret, located in the hall next to the campground, will go until 1:00 am, featuring a cash-only bar and a food vendor. Your day or weekend adult pass includes the Cabaret, but for those not of legal drinking age, don’t worry—there will be all-ages activities happening outside the hall as well.
Whether you’re looking to soak in some tunes, volunteer your time, or simply enjoy the easygoing atmosphere, Doylefest has something special waiting for you. Come join us at Eagle Creek Regional Park for a weekend that’s all about community, music, and the kind of memories you’ll cherish for years to come.
