Munro and Patrick to do an “Intimate Theatre Performance” in Rosthern

words and photo by Joe Callahan

Munro and Patrick took some time to discuss which songs would best suit their concert hall performance at the Station Arts Centre in Rosthern.

Heidi Munro and Scott Patrick, well known and accomplished Saskatoon musicians, will be performing their original material as well as much-loved cover songs to a pin-drop audience at the Station Arts Centre in Rosthern on Friday, October 6th. The show starts at 7:30pm.

As show host and producer, I have waited well over a year to present this duo. In my opinion, this show is a must see event. Theatre audiences are a different breed. They want to feel every note and hear every lyric. Munro and Patrick’s material, most notably their original material, deserves to be heard in that way.

The theatre at the Rosthern Station Arts Centre is rare among music venues. It's a beautifully designed 160 seater equipped with modern sound technology and is uniquely inviting with its attached cafe and food service facility. In 2022 it was voted venue of the year by the North Sask Music Zine. You can click on the award link here.

Munro and Patrick are veterans in the music scene in Saskatchewan and beyond and their much acclaimed tribute show Back to Black a Tribute to Amy Weinhouse has played to multiple sold-out shows. But as Munro says, it’s different with theatre audiences.

“The theatre setting for us is where the audience has mindfully chosen to see you and to hear you,” says Munro. “And we don’t take that lightly. It’s an intense experience for us….we can see celebration and we can see sadness.”

Heidi Munro is known widely for her rich, powerful yet warm vocals whilst Scott Patrick’s exemplary guitar accompaniment along with his uncommonly sensitive vocal stylings makes the duo’s musical package very compelling. Patrick's take on theatre settings, while similar to Munro's, makes its own points.

“It’s great to play a theatre where people are listening, enjoying the music and take in the lyrics on a first listen, “ says Patrick. “It’s an intimate experience for us as well.”

I'll be opening the show with a few original songs, joined by well-known guitarist Tim Campbell.
