When Will Ardell and The Brothers G first crossed paths, no one could have predicted that a chance meeting and a Sunday morning breakfast would lead to one hell of a collaboration. Their new song, "Colors of the Rain," is an anthem for anyone who’s faced tough times and found the strength to keep moving forward. The Brothers G bring their clean, classic guitar style, which perfectly pairs with Ardell’s gritty and raw voice, creating a track that cuts deep but shines bright—a blend of polished artistry and raw emotion.

Will Ardell reflects on how the collaboration came to be: "I first met The Brothers G about a year and a half ago. They were playing a show in Regina backing Kit Langfield, and I was in Regina that weekend—so the following Sunday morning, we met for breakfast. We all had kind of similar tastes in music, farming backgrounds, etc., and we just hit it off from there. Over the course of the year, we kept in touch and figured we should write together!"

This shared foundation led to "Colors of the Rain," a song that captures the complex emotions of pursuing one’s passion even when it comes at a personal cost. “Colors of the Rain tells a story of continuing to pursue music, even though occasionally it can come at the dissolving of a relationship,” Ardell explains. “The broader message is that even though the tougher times may seem ‘blue,’ there are many colors of hope.” The track’s lyrics reflect this sentiment with a genuine exploration of struggle and resilience, resonating deeply with anyone who’s faced the challenge of chasing a dream.

The process of creating the song was as organic as the friendship that sparked it. “I had the initial chord progression as a scratch track on my phone,” Ardell recalls, “and one Saturday afternoon last January—we got together and jammed out the basic song structure. Then in March, we set up mics and recorded.” This casual approach to recording allows the song’s raw, authentic vibe to shine through, making it feel less like a studio production and more like a moment captured in time. The seamless blend of Will’s rough, heartfelt vocals with The Brothers G’s refined guitar work is like a vintage truck on a dusty road—a perfect mix of grit and shine.

The song is a testament to the power of collaboration, something that Ardell found especially rewarding: “It’s always an incredible experience to collaborate with other artists, to swap ideas of creative thoughts and expression. Recording with them was such a blast; we all gelled really quickly. They are all extremely talented musicians and artists, and we’ve become great friends.” That sense of camaraderie comes through in the song, giving it a warm, genuine vibe that feels more like friends jamming than a formal studio session.

For fans of Will Ardell and The Brothers G, this song delivers what you’d hope for—a mix of storytelling, strong musicianship, and a bit of that rough-edged charm. It’s a song about life’s ups and downs, with just enough hope to keep you moving forward.
