”Where Bones Are Piled” is the latest release from Funeral Bell, an experimental death/doom duo from Regina. Originally founded in Guelph, Ontario in 2019, guitarist/bassist Jerry and vocalist/percussionist Quinn combine to create heavy, ponderous, ominous music that moves effortlessly from aggressive to atmospheric. “Where Bones Are Piled” is a ten minute instrumental track, swirling from Pink Floyd to Black Sabbath and back, reprising a haunting melodic theme before the next unexpected change.
”With ‘Where Bones Are Piled’ I wanted to do something heavy but with lots of psychedelic inspiration, load it with reverb and delay” Jerry told NSMZ. “Reminds me of the huge open spaces on the drive out to Saskatchewan from Guelph. We’re inspired by Candlemass, Black Sabbath, My Dying Bride, we try to keep things in a vintage doom lane but anything is an option with the latest project.”
