Last Sunday, October 27th, the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts in Prince Albert was buzzing with the vibrant music of Blue Moon Marquee, the Juno Award winning blues duo. Al Cardinal's rich voice and confident swagger mesmerized the crowd, demonstrating his profound passion for classic blues through his exceptional guitar skills. Jasmine Colette, an impressive talent herself, skillfully managed harmonies, lead vocals, stand-up bass, and drums, showcasing her remarkable versatility throughout the evening.

For this particular event, the duo was transformed into a quartet with the addition of saxophonist Jerry Cook and keyboardist Chris Andrew which definitely elevated the performance. Cook dazzled on sax and Andrew impressed with his keyboard skills. The group opened the show with the title track from their 2024 Juno-winning album, Scream, Holler, and Howl, and peppered in several tracks from their recently released album, New Orleans Sessions.

Inspired by iconic musicians like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and B.B. King, as well as incorporating elements of classic swing, Blue Moon Marquee delivered a unique blues show that blended traditional and modern influences, mesmerizing the crowd. Their ability to fuse classic elements with a contemporary flair resulted in a memorable musical experience. It was a fantastic show all round.

Coming up next at the Rawlinson on Wednesday, October 30th is Chase Padgett's outstanding performance "6 Guitars", a two-act, one-man show filled with music, comedy, and more. In the show, Padgett skillfully portrays six distinct guitar-playing characters, each showcasing a different music genre: Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical, Folk, and Country. Tickets for this show are still available and can be purchased HERE.
